Besides health, art and culture there are also other good reasons for visiting Bad Kissingen: the writer Theodor Fontane met his friend here, the famous painter Adolf Menzel - a declared "non-health-resort patient", who only came to Bad Kissingen because of the countryside, the friendly people and the Frankonian wine.
With all of the things you can experience in terms of natural and cultural landscapes, you can spend your free time in Bad Kissingen in a manner that will pleasantly stimulate all of your senses. The aim of your holiday is not to cover the greatest distances but to relax by removing yourself as far as possible from the daily grind.
The sights:
Culture
Bad Kissingen offers high-calibre culture throughout the whole year. The preparations for the "Kissinger Sommer" are currently in full swing. The stars of classical music of today and tomorrow meet in this prestigious international music festival, whose motto this year is "Music and Artists from China".
At the end of July Bad Kissingen celebrates the Rakoczy Festival. Celebrations take place for three days in the streets and squares of the city, and the history of the health resort comes to life again.
In August, the "Kissinger Theater Tage" attract visitors into the romantic open-air atmosphere of the Obere Saline (saltworks). In autumn, Bad Kissingen is host to a large number of high-calibre cabaret events. And in December, the "Kissinger Winterzauber" closes the annual series of events.

Wherever poets and painters have found their inspiration, Lady Fortune cannot be far. Bad Kissingen Casino is located in the idyllic "Luitpoldpark". The impressive neo-classicist building awaits you with elegant architecture and a large number of entertaining games: roulette, American roulette, blackjack, poker and "kleines Spiel" will guarantee you unforgettable hours of pleasure.
Entente Florale
Bad Kissingen is not only the most blooming city in Germany, but since summer 2004 it has also been one of the most blooming cities in Europe. With its victory in the national "Entente Florale – Unsere Stadt blüht auf" competition, Bad Kissingen had the chance to come out on top as a participant in the European competition "Entente Florale 2004".
Ten European cities, including Bad Kissingen, had faced up to the jury, with the Frankonian health resort representing Germany. Meanwhile 20,000 towns and villages from 11 countries take part in the annual national preliminary selections.
The award of the gold medal is a great distinction and at the same time an obligation for the idyllic health resort on the Fränkische Saale river, at the foot of the Bavarian Rhön district. These efforts were supported by citizens and businesspeople, who contributed house gardens, planted greens on façades, sponsored trees and the like in order to transform Bad Kissingen into a flourishing symphony.
Bad Kissingen's floral decorations are famous, and tens of thousands of guests take photos back home with them of the "Kurgarten", the Rose Garden, the tulip meadows by the River Saale and the narcissus fields in the "Luitpoldpark".

KissSalis Thermae
The KissSalis Thermae is Bad Kissingen's latest attraction. The Thermae, sauna park, health pavilion and fitness arena are open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
KissSalis offers an impressive contrast to the historical spa buildings in the centre of the resort. Bad Kissingen, which many guests love because of its large, well-kept parks and beautiful floral decorations, has built a remarkable thermal park in the centre of the Heiligenfeld natural park:
The large thermal pool on the western edge of the city complements the historical spa facilities with an exceptional range of swimming and health facilities. The swimming area with several indoor and outdoor pools was constructed according to the latest technical and medical findings. Sauna fans will be able to relax in the generously dimensioned sauna area. Further attractions are indoor and outdoor areas for gymnastics und running training, therapy rooms for physiotherapy and massage, a fitness area, massage and mud-pack rooms, a salt water hydrotherapy room, steam bath, mud applications, Kneipp water-treading basins, an intensive salt water pool and Hamam, a Turkish steam bath with massage room, hot air and radiation room. There is also a restaurant with an outdoor terrace, a bistro, a pool shop, a children's crèche and ample parking space.
The spa pool landscape stands out from the facilities offered by other pools and sets new architectural standards. The surrounding countryside is skilfully incorporated, and the interior design shows a stimulating combination of variety and harmony.
