Jahresabschlussball (final annual ball)
Guests can expect to be pampered at the final annual ball of the “Association of Kissinger Chefs du cuisine” which takes place at the “Wandelhalle” each year. The centre of attention is the creativity and competence of the professional chefs and cooks of Bad Kissingen, who are full of surprises and good ideas.
A row of friendly chefs dressed in starched white garments lend their knowledge to every aspect of cooking and cookery. The main attraction is the Bengali fireworks in the middle of a fantastically displayed dessert buffet.
The Salinenfest
The Salinen festival takes place annually in August in the inner courtyard of the Obere Saline building, adjacent to the local stables and the Bismarck museum. Guests can sit and relax under the open sky in this beautiful setting and enjoy the music of individual bands playing in the pavilion band stand, while beeing offered an assortment of culinary delights. One of a number of possibilities to get to the festival would be the little Kur-train, which will also bring you safely back.
The Botenlauben festival
Medieval shalms and fanfares can be heard from afar when the annual Botenlauben festival pays regard to the minstrel Otto von Botenlauben.
The setting couldn’t be more ideal than the ruins of the Botenlauben castle where Otto lived in the middle ages. Much work and detail goes into the hundreds of costumes used by the Reiterswiesener “Heimatverein” (homeland society) to impersonate the minstrels and knights of the dark ages. You may feel quite out of place in your day to day clothes.
The two-day festival takes place in September each year and never ceases to entertain with its representations of battles and spectacles, the scattering of market stalls selling medieval jewellery and ornament, clothes and even oriental spices at the bazaar together with medieval culinary delights. The highlight is the presentation of fire sorcery “die Burg brennt” to the sounds of Carmina Burana, acted out at dusk on the first evening.
Don’t forget
Take the opportunity to order yourself a Rakoczy festival pin-badge, that has been designed specially for the annual festival and has, over the years, gained so much in popularity that some are now even collectors items.
