Bad Kissingen has every reason to be proud of its many famous visitors.

Spa water pavillonA particularly memorable era was the period between 1852 and 1889 where many kings and emperors decided to make Bad Kissingen their social meeting point for the summer season. Even then it was well known that it was possible to combine health and well-being with pleasure and entertainment.

Other famous visitors include the poet Theodor Fontane, Viktor von Scheffel, the author Leo Tolstoi, the artist Adolph von Menzel, the composers Gioacchino Rossini and Richard Strauss and the German federal presidents Heuss and Lübke, the author George Bernhard Shaw and the astronaut Neil Armstrong.
